Dan Formby
Dan knew that playing the bass was his ‘thing’ as an early teenager. Two weeks after turning 16 he bought his 75 Fender –P Bass and it has been a lifelong friend. The first high school band was the Drugstore Cowboys where he inherited his older brother’s bass playing position. From there, it was always music as a hobby and pastime.

One week before moving to IA, Dan answered a Craigslist posting for a bass player, and the 5 of Hearts band became his new gig for the Iowa move. The song list for this band begged for a 5 string bass, so Dan obliged, but the 75 Precision is always close at hand!
A life of travel in the military and civilian jobs made a regular band gig a difficult task. Two of the best band experiences were the Sounds of Gold for nearly two years in Homer, LA, with steady music every Saturday night with some great musicians. The second was the David Holland Band in Wichita, KS, where he was playing until he moved to Cedar Rapids.
