First, I love my kids more than anything in this world. Everything I can do for them, I will. I also treasure my good friends and family, though I know I do not say it enough. That being said, I love my music, always have, and always will. I was in my first community theatre production at age 4 with my mom. I grew up doing as many musical activities as possible. In high school, I made all-state as a 2nd alto. I continued my music training at Millikin School of Music in Decatur, Il. I had a double major of commercial music: ½ of my major was studio work, the other ½ was performance. I continued my musical journey to Colorado where I spent yrs at the Grand Lake Lodge as a singing waitress. I then came back to Ia, met my husband and started a family. We then invested in a small club P.A. and profited off the karaoke scene while my kids were young. I then ventured out and performed in some classic rock and country bands throughout the Tri-state area, and loved every minute of it.
But, at the time, I knew not what was in store for me. My kids and I moved back to Cedar Rapids. It wasn’t long before I needed my music again. I auditioned as a keys player with a local band, and they all but politely said “you aren’t a great keys player (which we all know ), but if we hear of a band that needs a lead vocalist, we’ll let you know.” They DID follow thru with their word. They notified me right away when the amazing 5 OF HEARTS needed a lead vocalist. The rest is history! I can’t express enough, my gratitude, nor my appreciation to the members of the 5 of hearts, for the opportunity to be part of such a magnificent group. I am more excited than ever about the future of the 5 of Hearts! We, of course, still have our favorite Mike Eastman, myself, and some amazing new additions that can play multiple instruments. We are stronger than ever and ready to entertain!
